This pretty new Yakima from Plymouth is really cool!
It's a single ply fingering weight yarn with some lovely dark halo action happening thanks to the 15% yak content. Several folks on Ravelry are making a Belmina lace cowl/kerchief sort of thing.
I think I would try holding this yarn together with some mohair to pump up the dark halo affect.
I love this combo. It would make a nice Oslo hat too, perhaps? Any excuse to knit another hat.
Look at the sparkles! The Electra Lite from Plymouth Yarns is the sparkly sock yarn of your dreams. As long as your dreams are pink, purple, blue, and silver. Then we have you covered.
Well this pretty yarn ended up flying right under my radar, but I'm so glad we found it when I was in last week.
The Plymouth Hearthstone
is a merino and alpaca blend (80/20), so it will have just the right
amount of that alpaca drape with some nice durability from the merino
wool. Each skein is 436 yards of fingering weight yarn, so one or two
will make an ample shawl, and you'll need to 3-5 for a sweater depending on the design and size.
I am pretty much in love with these marls and naturals, so I need to figure out what to make with these four.
Baby Llama Glow...baby llama and sparkles. Everyone loves it, so we stock up every fall. Perfect for hats and wraps and cozy scarves!
We have the ever-popular Plymouth DFM Baby Alpaca Glow back in the shop. This yarn is a favorite...perfectly snowy white with just a little frost-kissed sparkle. The DFM stands for Dye For Me, since this yarn is intended to be a base for hand-dyers to create their own lovely colorways. That would be fun, too, but I love it just as it is!
We have stocked up on Galway Worsted from Plymouth Yarn Company for your workhorse yarn needs. We've had the Sport weight for a bit (still do), and it's just such a great staple yarn. And look at that bright yellow...just the thing for Oregon. The shelves are full and the colors are well-stocked. Time to knit a sweater, crochet a blanket, felt some slippers...whatever you want, Galway has you covered.
Take a look at this pretty new yarn from Plymouth! Incan Spice is a wool/alpaca/silk/yak blend...quite the combination! The silk gives it a really pretty luster, the alpaca and yak create an amazing halo, and the merino gives it some strength.
Plymouth has released a few patterns for this yarn, a fairisle hat and a simple lace cowl. That hat requires three colors, and the cowl is worked up with just one ball!
The colors are really rich and beautiful, and there is a cute little yak on the label. What more could you want?
We have more hand dyed speckles! The dyers at Plymouth Yarns know what they are doing apparently. This is Estilo, a single ply sport weight.
It reminds me a bit of some Tosh yarns we used to carry. The speckles are so subtle, and the color combinations are really unusual. It seems like the knitted fabric would have some lovely drape and flow, so I would use it for a shawl or scarf or something flowy. Stop in and take a look!
We love a good speckled yarn, and the Baby Alpaca Hand Dyes are always just perfect. The whole range of hand dyes is really beautiful, but the speckles always get me. I'm in love with all five. The Plymouth website gives you an idea of how they will knit up when you scroll over each colorway, but it seems to me that the skeins we have in stock have more white background showing through than the swatches on the website. I did a little Ravelry search to give you a better idea of what to expect.
The photo above shows 141 (blues and brights) and 145 (pinks and purples).
These two are 142 (blues and blacks) and 144 (browns and oranges and yellows). And this one below is 143 (PINK).
Obviously, they are not going to knit up the same way between dye lots, so you might get some slight variations from what you see on Ravelry. But they are all so beautiful, you are guaranteed a lovely finished product!
Look at this big ol' batch of Cotton Supreme! Such pretty colors, and the yarn is so very squishy. I've used this for cute little baby hats, which are in the shop as samples, and I know a few knitters have used it for blankets. I have face cloths and washcloths on the brain, though, so that needs to happen.
Take a look at the pretty Plymouth Reserve Worsted...superwash merino and silk in some really cool colorways. Love that cream and gold. Plymouth has a few pictures of how this knits up, but I can't wait to see more projects pop up on Ravelry.
I know I've told you about this yarn before, but we have a fresh stock in the shop, and I am newly obsessed with it. I've been following some small, indie hand-dyers on Facebook and Instagram, and I've noticed this speckly, splash-dyed yarn popping up all over the place. The folks at Plymouth Yarns have clearly been paying attention, too. The Happy Feet 100 Splash is beautiful.
They are all so nice, but I think Autumn is my favorite. Or Black Oreo. And Crayon. Oh, I still can't decide. I'll just have some of each.
I love the way it knits up as socks. Check out all the Splash socks on Ravelry. So good. Ravelers have made some lovely scarves and shawls, too. We have a nice stock of 100 Splash right now. If you love it, stop by and take yours home before I hoard it all away!
