Yakima

This pretty new Yakima from Plymouth is really cool!

It's a single ply fingering weight yarn with some lovely dark halo action happening thanks to the 15% yak content. Several folks on Ravelry are making a Belmina lace cowl/kerchief sort of thing.

I think I would try holding this yarn together with some mohair to pump up the dark halo affect.

I love this combo. It would make a nice Oslo hat too, perhaps? Any excuse to knit another hat.

Oslo Hat

Take a look at Amanda's luxurious Oslo Hat (Mohair Edition)! She used Farmer's Daughter Mighty Mo and Soka'pii in these gorgeous coordinating colors. Wowza. I am amazed at how rich the colors become when knitted together.

Sally also mentioned that a customer used some sweet pinks together to make her version, and now I can't stop thinking about this combo of Navia and Lang Lace.

If you need a cozy and super cool hat, this one might just be your thing!

P.S. It comes in a non-mohair edition as well! You'll just need to double up a sock yarn and skip the mohair.

Daruma Wool Mohair

Hello, beautiful mohair. This gorgeous bulky Wool Mohair from Daruma is so pretty.

I love the way this Raveler held it together with a light fingering yarn to create this gorgeous Column.

Bulky mohair has not been popular for awhile, and it's cool to see designers using it again for these big, cozy sweaters!

Daydreamer Ideas

Have you all seen the newest from super-designer Andrea Mowry? Oh my goodness, the Daydreamer is knit up with a strand of Farmer's Daughter Soka'pii and one strand of Mighty Mo.

The Soka'pii is a fingering weight Rambouilett from Wyoming and Montana, and its slightly nubbly and rustic texture is so so cool. Mighty Mo is a gorgeous mohair and silk blend that really adds halo and highlights to the finished knit. 

I'm always impressed at how substantial and heavenly a fingering weight and a lace mohair yarn knit up. They make a fabric that is lofty but warm and snuggly all at the same time. Plus, these color combos can't be beat.

I mean...

I might also be coming around on the cropped sweater idea. As a relatively tall girl, I really don't like feeling like things are too short on me, but I have started wearing my one cropped sweater more and more frequently. I can see how something like this lovely Daydreamer might be a perfect choice. Are you all cropped sweater fans? I am seeing them more and more frequently lately.

Sparkle Tweed!

Oooo, look at this fun new stuff! I'm affectionately calling it sparkle tweed. This stuff has holiday gifts written all over it.

The Metal Tweed from Gedifra is a worsted weight alpaca, wool, cotton blend with a fluffy mohair feel to it. I think this would look really cool as a cabled hat or cozy cowl. Your finished piece would have a lovely halo and so many pretty flecks of color!

The navy and the white are my favorites. Which ones do you like?

Mighty Mo

The folks at Farmer's Daughter Fibers have sent us a treat. The Mighty Mo is a silk and mohair blend in their gorgeous hand dyed shades.

This weight is really wonderful for holding along with another yarn to add an amazing silky halo. If you combine it with a DK, I'm pretty sure you'll get a worsted weight, but definitely swatch to make sure.

It's pretty rare to find this blend in a hand-dye, so it is a lovely surprise to see such gorgeous colors.

A lot of folks on Ravelry have combined the Mighty Mo with the Juicy DK (also in stock at the shop and also from Farmer's Daughter) to make Caitlin Hunter's Kobuk Hat.

The Mighty Mo is perfect for Andrea Mowry's Birds of a Feather Shawl from Laine Issue No 2, also available as a Ravelry download. Just combine it with your favorite fingering weight!
