Eye Candy

I love it when sweet treasures show up in the shop. These lovely, loosely-woven handkerchiefs are so unusual. The ones above are the perfect size for wrapping up your hair or a gift. These brightly colored double-sided ones are smaller, but so adorable.

These locally-made project bags are also pretty fabulous. They are double thickness with a nice substantial draw string, so they are going to last. We are expecting more soon for the Rose City Yarn Crawl. Stop in and see the pretty things!

Eye Candy

We have some adorable locally-made project bags in the shop right now. Pears and textures and florals and foxes, oh my! These are all lined and so very well made, and I think you deserve one.

Produce and Market Bags

I've been using some cool cloth produce bags when I head to the grocery store but they are starting to wear out! I was considering sewing myself some new ones, but I think I might like to knit or crochet a few instead and see how they turn out. Here are a few that I found that I thought you all might like, in the event that this sort of thing is on your mind, too.

Here are some nice crocheted options. All photos are borrowed from the links in the captions, which will also take you to the Ravelry page for the pattern. Most of these are freebies, too!
Hemp Produce Drawstring Bag
Edda Bag
French Market Bag
And you knitters can get in the game, too.
Weightless Produce Bag (Also a 2.0 version)
Reusable Produce Bag (with multiple sizes)

Shetland Shopper
We have so many lovely linen and cotton options at the shop for this sort of project. And it's nice when gauge doesn't really matter too much. Larger or smaller yarn? Larger or smaller bags. Either way, you are helping reduce the number of cheap single-use plastic bags that end up in the trash.

Kiriko

I have wanted to tell you all about these lovely products from Kiriko, but they keep disappearing. The folks at this Portland-based company are thinking about textiles as part of a larger story and working to show respect to that story through processes and products. And making some beautiful items in the process.
We have a collection of very well-made totes, zipper bags, and a few pillows made from really gorgeous fabrics in the shop for you to see. We are trying to keep these products in stock, but they are finding homes very quickly.

These would make really sweet gifts for yourself or anyone in your life who needs to carry things. If this sort of thing appeals to you, come by this weekend and see what we have!

Streets of LA

Hello sweet bag! We don't have nearly enough crochet samples in the shop, so I was happy to see this beauty.
The Streets of LA bag uses three colors of The Fibre Co. Cumbria and some basic sewing skills to create this lovely structured purse. I love the graphic pop of the sample, and I think it would be really pretty in some more muted shades, too. Maybe a range of neutrals or three shades of the same color? There are so many options!

If you want to give crochet a go but are feeling a little uneasy, keep your eyes on the blog for our next round of crochet workshops. I'll let you know as soon as the next class is available for sign ups!

July 9 Bags

We are excited to have these cool, new, very quality bags, made right here in Oregon by July Nine.
The handles are sturdy leather, and the bags are lightweight and durable. We have two sizes, The Sushi Sack and the Crossing Bag.
The Sushi Sack is perfect tote size for all the knitting stuff, and the Crossing Bag is a little bigger and fits across your body. It's perfect for your larger projects or a run to the grocery store or library.
We always need more bags, and these are such a cool new style. I don't think they will last long!

Artifact Totes and Bags

Wowza! These totes from Artifact are so sturdy and well-made. They are the perfect size for a day bag with room for books, water bottle, lunch, tablet or computer, and of course knitting...all the things you might need for a day of getting stuff done. The insides are so well finished, too. Not a raw seam in sight.
Artifact is based in Omaha, Nebraska, and all of their products are made in the USA from domestically-sourced materials whenever possible, and they even use some vintage hardware. They offer a lifetime guarantee against defects in workmanship and materials. We have the totes in several colors and these cool pouches made from painted awning cloth. They are super sturdy and water resistant.
This company is doing so really cool stuff and all of their products look well-made with classic design and timeless style. We are so happy to have their products in our shop!

More cute new project bags in the shop!
Love the cool animal illustrations on these. They remind me of the little Golden Books of my childhood. These make great gifts, too!

Fun Little Things!

We have fun stuff arriving almost daily at the shop, including lots of non-yarn items. Take a look at these cool leather bracelets! The longer ones wrap around and include a needle gauge and measuring tape (metric and imperial units), and the smaller ones with the mountains include the latitude and longitude coordinates for Portland. So cool, and handmade in Sandpoint, Idaho.
These sweet little project bags are all made with love and some adorable fabrics, too. Foxes and squirrels, oh my!
Are you an enamel pin kind of person? Put one on your knitting bag or jacket? Maybe you need one of these cute ones...
These sweet needle gauges from Katrinkles are stinking adorable. Who doesn't want a hedgehog in their knitting bag? Or a sheep or a fox?
And finally, tiny sheep sheep buttons. I mean...
Sally always does such a lovely job of curating the beautiful things in the shop, and this sweet selection is just right!

More New Bags and Baskets

Who loves a nice project bag for containing and organizing all those things you are currently making? Probably not the best way to "clean," but it seems to help!
Loving these huge baskets for containing all of my works-in-progress. Or farmer's market haul or beach gear or legos or library books...whatever.

And these guys! Oh man they are cool. These are handmade by Wende of By The Bay Yarn Co. Bright canvas, drawstring, and a nice sturdy webbed handle. We have a ton of colors, but I only took a picture of the safety orange for some reason.

My house feels like a clutter of half-finished things...perhaps shoving them all in pretty bags will make it all better?

Egg Press Bags

Do you all know Egg Press? You have likely seen their (often cheeky) letterpress cards in you local grocery store or boutique if you live here in Portland, although they have worked with companies all around the world. All of their beautiful things are made here in town, and they are truly lovely people.
We are so excited to have their gorgeous canvas zipper bags in the shop! These are great for knitting notions, project bags, makeup bags, snack bags...just about anything really. The designs are lovely and graphic, and the quality is top notch. If you love local and awesome, you should stop in to see these while they last!
