I wanted to show you these sweet animal pens to make you smile and some gorgeous bags from Kiriko. The textiles are just lovely.

Bud
Check out this cozy organic cotton from Juniper Moon Farm.
Bud is a bulky cotton, similar to the Classic Elite Sprout we carried a few years back.
I made a cozy sweatshirt using just five skeins of that yarn, and it's still one of my all-time favorites. I just wore it all weekend, in fact.
This would also be great for the Purl Soho Chevron Baby Blanket, another of my favorite projects.
I'm also loving this adorable bunny hat and no-ends-to-weave-in striped blanket. If you like a hard-wearing cotton yarn, you will like Bud!

Farmer's Daughter Fibers KAL
We are playing along with the Farmer's Daughter Fibers KAL!
Between now and Labor Day in September, if you create a finished object using FDF yarn purchased at Close Knit, you can enter it into the KAL. Bring it in to the shop and we will enter it into the competition! You can enter up to three finished creations, and we will choose a gift basket winner in September.
Shop winners around the country will also be entered into the larger competition to win a guest spot at the 2020 Montana Mountain Retreat. (Here's a little info about this summer's retreat.)
This seems like a great way to keep us all enjoying beautiful fibers and creating all summer long. If you want to share your progress on Facebook and Instagram, you can tag @thefarmersdaughterfibers or use #LYS_FDFSummerKCal.
Can't wait to see what you all create with Farmer's Daughter Fibers this summer!

Fair Cotton Craft
I love an unusual self-striping situation, and the new organic Fair Cotton Craft form Katia is just that. The pretty combination of pastel stripes and the natural base initially caught my eye, and then I looked into what the yarn does!
Katia has a few patterns available for download, including the sweet freebie Just-One-Cake Baby Blanket that uses...yup, just one cake. There is also this free (but not Katia) crochet blanket that would be perfect in this yarn.
I am also wishing that I still had a child small enough to justify knitting this Just One Cake Kid's Sweater, which is written for size 6. This pattern is not free, but I think it's only a few dollars to download. Maybe I'll knit it anyway and find a 6 year old who needs a rainbow sweater.
Rainbows and organic cotton...this would be a perfect summer project!

Eye Candy
A fresh batch of this GORGEOUS Illimani Sabri arrived last week...so fresh that it was still in the plastic when I arrived. This fingering weight yarn is 85% cotton and 15% alpaca, and as soft as can be.
If you have seen this kerchief in the shop, then you know how lovely it is and how nicely it knits up. Our last batch of this yarn disappeared in a long weekend, so I would certainly suggest that you grab it while you can!

Knitted Wit's National Parks and a Sock-A-Long
The National Parks line in Knitted Wit Sock is making the shelves so bright and cheerful! Look at these crazy fun color combos, all inspired by a different national parks.
I am a bit obsessed with this one inspired by Haleakala National Park in Hawaii, and I can't decide if it's the weirdest or most beautiful sock yarn ever. Maybe it's both, but it definitely says Hawaii.
If these yarns are your jam, consider playing along with the Socks on Vacay 2019 kint-a-long. To participate, you need to knit socks with one of the designs from the KAL using the National Parks sock yarns before September 2, 2019. You can enter your socks on social media using the hashtag #socksonvacay to win some cool prizes! There is more info on their website and on the cards we have in the shop.
Yay for colorful summer socks!

Pom Pom, Summer 2019
Hello newest Pom Pom! In addition to all of the lovely projects, this issue contains an article by Emi Ito about cultural appropriation
and diversity. She touches on some really important points about how we
as makers can be more thoughtful and aware with our work and actions.
Definitely an important read for all of us who have room to grow and
learn form each other.
And the projects are gorgeous! Loving the textures and patterns on these sweaters.
I don't know how to crochet, but this bag is gorgeous and now I want to learn. Thank you, Pom Pom, for inspiring me to learn new things!
