I bought sock yarn not too long ago, and then I ask the Side Hustle Sock friends to make tubes for me. Now all I need to do is make heels, toes, and cuffs. 

Jawoll Color Superwash

I love the way these yarns knit up, and I think the recipient of these cozy socks is going to be shocked and amazed that I made this happen so quickly. (Thanks to some little sock tube-winding elves.)

Merino Yak

This rich and pretty raspberry Merino Yak sock yarn needs to be in my sock yarn stash. This yarn is so sophisticated and fancy. I love the grey and greens and blues, too.

This yarn is great for socks, but I'm also finding some other lovely things on Ravelry, too. The colors play so nicely together.

Now that I've seen all of these lovely projects, I need to go back to the shop and take some of this Merino Yak home with me.

Tweed Regia

It's been agreed upon that this tweedy Regia 6-ply needs to be knit up into cabled knee socks or some cute legwarmers. Any takers?

Eye Candy

Regia Arne and Carlos 6 ply is in the shop. I've used the fingering weight version of this yarn, and I love the colors and the durability. The 6 ply is a sport weight with so many possibilities, from socks to blankets to sweaters to hats to sweet baby sleep sacks.

Look at that big ol' beautiful skein. Just one of these will make a pair of grown up socks. Enjoy!

Beach Sock

A last-minute coast vacation calls for a new knitting project. I am an avid sock yarn hoarder (but not sock knitter), so I decided to force the issue by only bringing one project. The Arne and Carlos Regia was just the thing. The self-patterning yarn is fun and mindless, but I want to keep going to see the next pattern develop. 

I also tried the Chiaogoo 9" US0 circular needles for this project. My hands are still getting used to the tiny needles, but I'm liking them so far. I managed almost half a sock in just a few days! At this rate, I'll have at least a few pairs by fall.

Emily Knit a Knee Sock

Emily knit a knee sock from just one ball of yarn.
It's pretty, and it's patterned, and it will keep her nice and warm.

She used a festive sport yarn, so it didn't take too long.
On US3s and up to her knees, how could she go wrong?

Okay, I'll stop with the rhyming now (I mean it). This yarn is so pretty! Self-patterning yarns seem to come and go in terms of popularity, but I love how they knit up. Lucky for us, Regia is putting out some really cool colorways right now. And for those of you who balk at knitting socks on tiny needles, this yarn might be just the ticket.

This sport weight yarn works really well on a US3, so you won't be knitting forever. I have knit several pairs of socks over the years, and the ones knit with Regia yarns wear like iron.

Emily has been kind enough to make her knee sock pattern available to all of us as a freebie with the purchase of the yarn. This sturdy sock yarn is a real winner. Stop on by, and you'll see why! (Uh oh, more rhyming...)

Self-Patterning Socks

There are those folks in the world who love a handknit sock in self-patterning yarn. My mother is one of those people. She herself no longer knits, so I am tasked with knitting (and repairing) her favorite socks. While I have PLENTY of sock yarn waiting to become socks, I am giving in to temptation and taking a few balls of this new yarn home with me.

The colors were designed by these two fabulously off-the-wall dudes from Norway, Arne and Carlos. Their books and designs are really something to see, and I love the color combinations they are using for this line from Regia. I've knit with Regia sock yarn several times, and I can tell you that it holds up to some serious wear. If you are going to put all that energy into knitting socks, it pays to use the sturdy stuff.

Plus, self-patterning sock yarn is kind of magical. You will easily impress anyone and everyone who sees you working with it. The pattern emerges as you knit, and it doesn't really matter how many stitches you are using. It pretty much always looks cool. I often use a coordinating solid color for the toes and heels, but you certainly don't need to. This kind of yarn is also ideal for baby sweaters and pants, thanks to its durability in the wash and fun colors. I, of course, will be making mom socks with this. What sounds fun to you?
