Eye Candy

Malabrigo Worsted is now available in a machine washable version! This new Washted is so similar to the original Worsted. The colors are vibrant and the yarn is so soft and cushy.

Eye Candy

The neon yellow Malabrigo Rasta is an eye catcher! It's not quite panic time for last-minute gift knits, but this is here for you when the time comes.

Malabrigo Sock

Sock tubes!
Arne and Carlos

I bought sock yarn not too long ago, and then I ask the Side Hustle Sock friends to make tubes for me. Now all I need to do is make heels, toes, and cuffs.
Jawoll Color Superwash
I love the way these yarns knit up, and I think the recipient of these cozy socks is going to be shocked and amazed that I made this happen so quickly. (Thanks to some little sock tube-winding elves.)

All the Malabrigo, please. Especially this new shade of Worsted.

Malabrigo Sock

The Malabrigo Sock pulled me in again. This stuff is so cool. It's entirely possible that I purchased a skein of the dark and moody speckled one on the right for holiday gift socks.
It's also very likely that I sent it off to the Side Hustle Socks friends to create a tube so I can add heels and toes and cuffs and feel super accomplished because I don't have time to knit all the things before the holidays!

Eye Candy

Every time I'm in the shop, something unusual catches my eye. This week it was this gorgeous Malabrigo Mechita. Wowza, look at those speckles.

Eye Candy

Sometimes I walk through the shop and some little corner of color grabs my attention. This time it was the combo of this buttery yellow and the sky blue. The garnet red doesn't hurt either. This Malabrigo Chunky is some lovely yarn.

Malabrigo Chunky

Let's start this weekend off with some Malabrigo Chunky, shall we? You can stop by the shop today to choose a few of your favorites, then head home and get started. I bet you can finish a hat by Sunday evening. Or a cowl. Or some mittens. Or a scarf. Or an octopus.

Rasta Tribeca

Take a look at these gorgeous new shades of Malabrigo Rasta.
Sally is calling this color line "adult pastels," but Malabrigo calls it TriBeCa. You can read more about their inspiration on their blog, but mostly it's all about on-trend colors. They have several cool new patterns in an eBook to showcase this yarn as well.
Rasta is so much fun to knit, and the instant gratification can't be beat. Big yarn and huge needles make for speedy knitting.
I love that this beloved yarn company is staying current and putting out these beautiful shades in addition to their classic solids and multis. Lookin' good, Malabrigo!

Mechita

So, apparently I am just a sucker for the pretty yarns right now. Bright colors, unusual combos, edgy splatters...you've got my attention.
These three colorways of Malabrigo Mechita pretty much stopped me in my tracks the other day. Mechita is a fingering weight single-ply, perfect for scarves and wraps and soft hats. It's superwash merino, so it would be great for a baby sweater, too. I love making baby sweaters with single-ply yarns like this. The finished garments are so silky soft, and the gorgeous hand-dyed yarns just make them that much more special.
I'm always a little curious about how these guys knit up, so I poked around on Ravelry to find some projects for us to check out. Ravelry is a great resource for this, but Malabrigo has also created Pinterest boards for each yarn, too. Renaissance is the mutli-colored one at the top, Lynx is in the middle, and Aureo is on the bottom. Many of the projects featured combine several colorways, and some of the projects aren't really related to the color in particular, but hopefully you can get a good idea of what to expect from these beautiful colorways. (The Ravelry projects for Renaissance, Lynx, and Aureo will give you some ideas, too, but these colorways look pretty new, so there aren't a lot of projects yet.)

Can't wait to see what you all do with these unusual yarns! Are they grabbing your attention as much as they are grabbing mine?

Eye Candy

Every single time we receive a shipment of Malabrigo Rios, I go straight for the most unusual and stunning colorway and wonder, "What beautiful shade is this??"
Spoiler alert: it's always Arco Iris (which means rainbow in English). The Ravelry project gallery will give you an idea of how it works up, but it's always good. In honor of both the Pride Parade yesterday and the rainbows brought on by those crazy thunderstorms, I think it's officially rainbow day for me.

Eye Candy

Malabrigo eye candy is sort of the best kind, don't you think?

Malabrigo Mecha

I bet you'd like a nice warm hat and mittens right about now! It is cold and snowy again here in Portland. We have a fresh batch of the silky soft and bulky Malabrigo Mecha in the shop.
The winter white and the coppery brown caught my eye this week, but there are so many gorgeous Malabrigo colors to choose from.

If I were you, I would cast on for a Cocoon hat immediately. And maybe some Pescovegetarian Mittens. You will only need one skein for each project. If you need a warm sweater, maybe an Agnes? I can promise you that Agnes is a fun, quick knit and a great sweater to own. Knit up in Mecha, it would be so cozy. If you can make it to the shop this week, we have lots of warm and wooly yarn for you!

Malabrigo Rasta

The Rasta basket overflow-eth! I realize that we are not yet in holiday knitting crunch-mode, but this yarn deserves some love. The colors are amazing, the texture is so soft and silky, and it knits up so quickly! Malabrigo knows what they are doing.
There is some talk of snow in the city next week, and the mountains are already white. If you grab a skein of Rasta today, you'll have a scarf or cowl by the weekend. Then you'll be already for whatever chill and frost we might see.

Eye Candy Monday

Say it with me...Mechitaaaaaaaa. Fingering weight, hand-dyed single ply in a wide range of variegateds and semi-solids. Think Tosh Merino Light, but in Malabrigo colors. They know the way to our hearts.

Fresh Malabrigo

There is some fresh Malabrigo on the shelves, including a restock of Merino Worsted and Rios. But the Sock. It gets me every time, so colorful and lined up nicely.
These always fly off the shelves. I don't even really knit socks, and I still can't stop myself from loving this. Come and get it!

Rasta and Zumie

I know we still have a few weeks until the gift-giving kicks in to full swing, but maybe you are already thinking about the big yarn and quick projects? I know these lovelies will be increasingly popular as the days tick by.
We have a shelf full of Malabrigo Rasta, one of the prettiest super chunky yarns there is. Malabrigo colors are really stunning...I am reminded why this yarn is so popular when I see the shelf full like this. One skein of this silky soft yarn will get you a significant cowl, scarf, hat...you get the idea. You'll have it done in one evening, too.
Sally has brought HiKoo Zumie into the shop this year, too. This is an acrylic/wool/nylon super chunky yarn in lots of beautiful colors. Perfect for the wool-sensitive folks on your gift list. As an added bonus, the pattern for this fun cowl is on the ball band.  Worked up on a 24" US13, this one will fly off the needles, too.
Come by and get your favorite colors while these super chunkies are so well-stocked!

Time for Fast Hats

So, it's getting down to it here, friends.  Let's talk about some quick knitting projects, shall we?

Remember all of that gorgeous Malabrigo that arrived last week?  Well, my sweet friend Laura used some to crank out some fabulous Super Simple Baby Hats.
The pattern is a freebie from Purl Soho, the yarn is lusciously soft, and you get to make a pom pom.  The pattern is written for babies, but it is easy as pie to make them larger.  Just cast on more stitches in multiples of two and work a longer tube.  There isn't even any decreasing!

Laura doubled the Malabrigo Merino Worsted and used a US10.5.  We should have everything you need at the shop right now, including the pom pom makers.  It's even cute baby-approved!
Thanks for the inspiration and the photos, Laura!  Stay tuned for more quick hats...

Malabrigo

We received a nice fat shipment from Malabrigo this week.
Silkpaca.  Lots and lots of it.  We used this for our Bateaux Moches sample, and it sold like hotcakes.  No surprise, considering these lustrous colors.
We have a boatload of Malabrigo Merino Worsted on the shelves, too.
We haven't carried this popular yarn in awhile, so it's nice to have it back.  Good for so many things, and as soft as butter.  Some of it is the color of butter, too!

Shelf full of Rasta, anyone?  About half of this is probably gone already...it's getting to be that time of year, isn't it?

I wound a few of these up on Monday, and I was struck by the depth and richness of the colors.
Everyone loves Malabrigo!  Come get yours.
