Summer Interweave

There are some pretty sweaters and wraps in the newest Interweave Knits! Plus, lobster socks, of course.

Brrr! We are back to chilly weather here in Portland! How about a cozy cashmere cowl? This Lang Cashmere Light is warm and knits up into a dense and buttery-soft fabric, and I love the pretty earthy-tones.
Here's the easy-peasy free pattern for the cowl. Enjoy!

Making No. 7: Desert

Making No. 7 is calm and beautiful with it's cool desert palette. You can check out all of the knitting patterns in this issue here on Ravelry, but there is so much more.

If you are one of the many many makers who covets these, we got you.

Illimani Sabri

I hesitate to even mention this yarn.
We received a good size shipment last week, and apparently we sold almost 90% of our stock of Illimani Sabri over the weekend. We had five or six shades of this cotton/alpaca blend and now we are down to these three shades.
Maybe it's the charming little one-skein kerchief sample that has enchanted our knitters. We have this free pattern available for you in the shop with the purchase of the yarn. Perhaps you have all fallen in love with the unusual hand of the knitted fabric. It's smooth and textured at the same time. I'm not really sure how to describe it, but you had better pop in today if you want to take some home with you!

Eye Candy

The newest Noro is lovely! This is Noro Akari, a worsted weight blend of silk, cotton, wool, and mohair. We have these lovely muted shades in the shop, perfect for so many projects: a lovely wrap for chilly evenings, a drapey cardigan, or a cozy pullover. I love that seaglassy one at the top..and the shades of grey...and the sandy brown.

Jawoll Twin

Have you ever tried knitting with self-patterning sock yarn and struggled to match your patterns? I end up wasting yarn to get to the same starting point and sometimes it's not clear where the pattern even starts. Well this pretty new Jawoll Twin will give you perfectly matched socks every time!
The skeins all start at the same place, so your socks will be twins every time. Some colorways make a pretty ombre and this one knits up into a sweet rainbow. You can see all of the colorways knit up in this pdf from Jawoll.
Summer is a great time for sock knitting. Come check out this pretty yarn and maybe knit yourself a rainbow!

Eye Candy

New shades of Beiroa from Retrosaria. And these new labels are perfect.

And for something completely opposite of the Nightshade from the last's Berroco Nebula! It appears that this sample piece shows a color repeat from several (all?) colorways, but it's hard to tell.
This is a single ply superwash merino in a light sport to fingering weight. Lots of folks have used it to make a Zick Zack scarf, a freebie on Ravelry.
Pic borrowed from janetwynne's Rav project page.
You'll just need 2 skeins in different shades to get a really cool effect. Looks like the Hitchhiker and Daybreak shawls are popular choices, too. It would be cool to just knit a tube scarf using a few skeins and a 16" circular. You'd end up with a really cool scarf without having to think about it much at all.

Emily's Mini Fade would be fun, too! If you need some color after all of those grey months, maybe Nebula is what you're looking for.

Nightshades Trunk Show

We have some fabulous Nightshades pieces in the shop from Harrisville Designs. These knitted items have such a nice hand, and the yarn has a lovely crunch to it.
The cables and ribbing and texture really pop with the Nightshades, and the designs are so cool.

I love how different these shades all look even though they all have the same black base. Each sone has a different color added in, and it's great to see how them all worked up.
This yarn is nearly impossible to photograph, though, so it's best in person. You should come on down to the shop and see for yourself. You are also welcome to try on the pieces. If you figure out the best way to wear this cowl/shawl/wrap, please let me know!

Lang Lace...mohair and silk in sweet spring shades.

The newest from Retrosaria is on the shelves! Vovó is a stunning sport weight wool in some lovely shades. How do they make it shiny? I don't know but I love it!
My favorites are this beautiful red and this green.
What would you call this one? Barn red? Crimson? Ruby?

How about the green? Moss? Forest? Army? I suppose the names don't matter.
Pic borrowed from Rav pattern page.

This hard-wearing yarn would be fabulous for mittens or gloves. How about the Fiddlehead Mittens? This pattern has been around since 2008 and has over 3,500 projects on Ravelry. Seems legit.

There are so many gorgeous colorwork sweaters out there in sport weight. The world is your oyster on that front. How about The twigs? I had forgotten that this one was a sport weight. Now I can only imagine it in Vovó.

The Summer 2019 Knitscene is fun! Can I show you some of the things that caught my eye?
These hat and socks look like great basics on their own, but the visible mending look adds a little something extra to this set.
My 90's teenage self is jonesing for this lace tube/tank top.
Summer is a great time to knit wraps and with some color and texture and interesting stitches on a not-sweater-sized project.

This cute biased top is so springy and cute, too!
And a cotton tote bag is never a bad idea for summer.
We love to knit all summer long! What do you all like to knit in the warmer months?
