June Hat!

While the colors for the June hat are not necessarily unusual, the hat itself is pretty great! These cuties are part of Kelbourne Woolens Year of Hats, and I think this is my favorite month yet.

When you buy two skeins, you'll have enough for two hats in opposite colors. Plus, if you've been saving scraps, you can make some cute and colorful pom poms for your graphic new hat.
I think this neon tag kit would be perfect, too. I wonder if that's against the rules...

Simply Stripes Kit

We don't do a lot of kits in the shop, but this one was too lovely to pass up. This is the Simply Stripes Cowl using a cool yarn called SimpliCria from Skacel. This yarn is a gorgeous and soft chained alpaca. It is really luxurious and has such a nice halo.
The kit contains six balls of yarn and the pattern for the multi-colored striped cowl. We only have a few kits in the shop, so pop in soon and take a look!

The Cuteness

This cuteness has arrived at the shop. One sweet little kit holds almost everything you will need to make an adorable hippo named Hector...
a monkey called Marcel...
an elephant they call Emile...
or a rhino known as Rene.
Each box contains one ball of Royal Petites from Blue Sky Alpacas, the perfect amount of gold for the crown, and all the bits and bobs you will need to create a little stuffed friend. All you need to supply is a set of US2 needles and a little time and love.
What a fun gift for one of your favorite knitters. Or send a loved one in with instructions, and we will send them home with the prefect gift for you! Imagine finding one of these in your stocking this year. So cute.

The kits are only available in brick and mortar yarn shops, so please stop by and have a look. If you are out of town and must have one of these critters, please give us a ring. We are happy to ship to you!

Raspberry Ripple

Way back in March during the Rose City Yarn Crawl, we received these sweet little kits for the Raspberry Ripple Shawlette. The kit uses two skeins of Indochine, a pure silk yarn form Lantern Moon. We had a lovely sample in the shop during the crawl, but once it went back to Lantern Moon, it was hard to show off this yarn. So I made a sample!
The Indochine was really nice to work with...it almost felt cool in my hands, perfect for summer knitting. The pattern was pretty straight-forward, and I really like the textured stitch pattern in the middle. I had some yarn left over, and I might have kept going, but a few folks on Ravelry mentioned that they did not quite make it through a full additional repeat. Since it was a shop sample, I knit it to the pattern specifications. If I were making it for myself, I would have used up every last yard!
We had several folks trying to buy the super cool recycled paper bowls from the kits. Now that you can see what's the bowls, it's time to go grab yours!
