Eye Candy
Ooooo...look at these pretty Jilly Petities. I think they look like little jewels or candies. These would be a fun addition to a scarf or hat project!

More New Bags and Baskets
Loving these huge baskets for containing all of my works-in-progress. Or farmer's market haul or beach gear or legos or library books...whatever.
And these guys! Oh man they are cool. These are handmade by Wende of By The Bay Yarn Co. Bright canvas, drawstring, and a nice sturdy webbed handle. We have a ton of colors, but I only took a picture of the safety orange for some reason.
My house feels like a clutter of half-finished things...perhaps shoving them all in pretty bags will make it all better?

Norah Gaughan and Knit.wear? Yes, please. The newest Wool Studio book is lovely! (The last pic is my favorite.)

Not Socks
So we have a lot of sock yarn. The shop is full of beautiful hand-dyed yarn that is perfect for socks. But what if you don't know how to knit socks? Well, you can take a sock class! We have one happening right now, but there will be more on the calendar soon.
What if you have no desire to knit socks? There are other options for this gorgeous stuff! Lots of people knit shawls and wraps. So many options out there.
The Find Your Fade is so popular. I love the stripey Terre et Mer.
Did you know you can knit fabulous hats in sock yarn, too? We have this awesome Midas Hat in the shop now. It was knit with Highland Bling, but you can use pretty much any sock yarn for a project like this. I have made the Bristol Hat as few times, although the textured pattern would be best in a solid or semi-solid colorway.
My personal favorite? Baby sweaters.
I love the Gry's Jacket from All You Knit is Love, but I also adore the classic Baby Surprise Jacket. I have made several over the years.
I am almost finished with this one for a beloved teacher friend, just need a few little buttons. This pattern is really unusual, and the size you make mostly depends on your gauge. Sock yarn typically makes a perfect newborn size, just right for those first several weeks when everything seems too big and overwhelming for a tiny body.
What do you all like to make? Tell me about your favorite patterns for these beautiful hand-dyed yarns!

Modern Gingham
Have you all seen Emily's latest design?
Her Modern Gingham cowl seems like just the right kind of thing to be knitting in this heat! It's designed with Berroco Remix Light, a mix of all kinds of recycled and non-wooly fibers in a DK weight. The yarn has a really nice and interesting hand to it, and it's just right for this cowl.
The mix of fibers also gives the yarn a little bit of a tweed or faded denim look, which I really like, and I think it looks really cool in this low-key colorwork pattern. I love the gold, charcoal, and natural shades that Emily used for her sample...strong contrast and so classy.
If you want to try out some nice beginner colorwork this summer, the Modern Gingham is a great place to begin! Emily's pattern is for sale on Ravelry, and we can always help you purchase it in the shop if you prefer. We have a nice array of colors in the Remix Light, so stop by to choose your favorites!

New Class Alert!
You all know about our awesome teachers, right? They are so talented and clever and they want to make YOU an even better knitter or crocheter. Take a look at the sidebar for the whole list of great classes and flexible options.
Our newest offering from Emily is a drop in class called The Devlin is in the Details! This class will be Friday afternoons from 1-4PM. It works a little bit differently since it's a drop in class: one hour is $12, two hours is $20, and all three hours will be $30. You can come by anytime during the time window and you only pay for the time you are here.
The focus will be getting unstuck on a project or learning how to finish your projects, but really anyone with any project is welcome. The first class is tomorrow, Friday, July 6. We are excited to try out this new format and see if it works for you all!

Eye Candy
I was lucky enough to knit in the mountains this weekend. Man, I love Oregon.
Here's the progress on my weird knitting.
It's a lot of garter stitch squishiness in this beautiful colorway from Knitted Wit. I don't have any more exciting trips planned to gorgeous Oregon locations, but I'll keep knitting!
