July 9 Bags

We are excited to have these cool, new, very quality bags, made right here in Oregon by July Nine.

The handles are sturdy leather, and the bags are lightweight and durable. We have two sizes, The Sushi Sack and the Crossing Bag. 

The Sushi Sack is perfect tote size for all the knitting stuff, and the Crossing Bag is a little bigger and fits across your body. It's perfect for your larger projects or a run to the grocery store or library.

We always need more bags, and these are such a cool new style. I don't think they will last long!

Artifact Totes and Bags

Wowza! These totes from Artifact are so sturdy and well-made. They are the perfect size for a day bag with room for books, water bottle, lunch, tablet or computer, and of course knitting...all the things you might need for a day of getting stuff done. The insides are so well finished, too. Not a raw seam in sight.

Artifact is based in Omaha, Nebraska, and all of their products are made in the USA from domestically-sourced materials whenever possible, and they even use some vintage hardware. They offer a lifetime guarantee against defects in workmanship and materials. We have the totes in several colors and these cool pouches made from painted awning cloth. They are super sturdy and water resistant.

This company is doing so really cool stuff and all of their products look well-made with classic design and timeless style. We are so happy to have their products in our shop!

Cestari is Here

I'm so excited to see this rustic barny wool in the shop!

I've been oggling the Cestari Traditional Collection 2 Ply online for some time now, and I am beyond excited that I now have easy access to it. Look at all that marled goodness.

This yarn is 100% Targhee/Columbia wool, and it's crunchy and rustic and made in the USA. Cestari claims that it will hold up to a cold machine wash, as the yarn does not felt easily, but I don't think I'd chance it. Avoid dry cleaning to retain the lovely natural lanolin. Your knitted garment will soften up as you wear it and with each cold hand washing.

We have a pretty little swatch to show off how nicely this Aran weight wool knits up.

Sally is working on some nice cozy Hyak socks with the Cestari. They are going to be perfect for staying cozy by the fire at home.

I've been holding on to this Sounds of Life Cardigan pattern for awhile now, looking for good alternative yarns in our shop. But now I can just knit it with the intended Cestari.

Eye Candy

We are so excited to welcome Swans Island All American Sport Weight into our midst. This gorgeous yarn is going to be a favorite, I can already tell. We have a slew of lovely shades and several patterns. More soon. I have to go ogle just a little longer.

 

Sincere Sheep

I love getting new yarn in the summer time. I know many knitters slow down when the temperature rises, but I always need something on the needles. Fresh, American-made, vegetable-dyed yarn is just the thing to keep us all inspired!

Sincere Sheep is a northern California company producing some gorgeous fiber, and we are happy to be carrying their Equity Fingering and Bannock yarns.

Bannock is a squishy worsted weight with 280 yards in each skein. Most of these are very subtle and tonal, but a few colorways have more variation than others. They are all really lovely. Sally started working with the yellow (Mrs. Fisher), and it is knitting up so nicely. I feel the need to squeeze it every time I see it.

We love the Spate mitts by Jane Richmond for this yarn. That rich textured raindrop pattern looks so cozy. I'm putting these on the gift knitting list.

The Equity Fingering, grown and spun in Wyoming, is equally gorgeous. This yarn would be perfect for lace knitting, as it will block out beautifully. Colorwork is a great choice, too, since the yarn has a little tooth to it, making it stick to itself just the right amount. The sweet Ice Ribbons set is designed with two skeins of the Equity Fingering for the cap, cowl, and mitts.
