Noble

The new Berroco Noble is soft and luscious and chunky. It's a merino single ply with a little nylon for durability. We have such a lovely range of neutrals and a gorgeous deep red. (That's a neutral, right?) Maybe we will see more colors soon, but these are all so good!
The Noble pattern book has some nice stuff, including the pretty textured cowl up above, Coffeehouse and this interesting textured cowl in linen stitch, Damiano.
I just noticed that Berroco also has a nice free hat pattern using one ball of Noble. It's still chilly out there, friends. Get yourself some big yarn and knit some cozy stuff!

Eye Candy

Happy Monday! I don't know about you all, but my head does not feel like it's screwed on straight today. Let's have a sneak peek at some lovely yarn that we will be seeing in the shop soon, Highland Bling sock yarn from The Farmer's Daughter Fibers.
Maybe this will help us get started off on the right foot this week. Enjoy the possible sun today!

Feza Harvest

We have a really cool new yarn in the shop, Feza Harvest. This yarn is an organically-dyed superwash merino. That's right, friends. It's machine washable and organic, perfect for your kid and baby knits. It's also a lovely choice for just about everything else, too.
These are 225-yard skeins of worsted weight yarn at a great price. Feza offers some great free patterns for Harvest on their website, including this really unusual lace pullover and a cool cabled scarf. Take a look at this amazing oversized golden version of the pullover. Stunning.
The colors inspired Sally to try a Boden-inspired colorblocked multi-textured scarf. I'm excited to see how this one turns out. The yarn is really nice knit up, with great stitch definition and a nice hand.
We are glad to be adding such a lovely and versatile yarn to the shop. Please let us know what you think of the Harvest!

The Tosh DK

Our Tosh DK supply is plump and full right now. This yarn is truly one of the most lovely and satisfying, which justifies its nearly cult following. The newest colorways to join our family include those rich and full semi-solid jewel tones up above, as well was these new friends below.
These speckled skeins are Yoko and Stormborn. Check out this ridiculously cute baby cardigan in Yoko and this super simple beanie in Stormborn. These projects will give you an idea of how these unusual yarns knit up.
We have some new variegated shades, too. The colors are almost Malabrigo-like, which I consider high praise. Apparently, we like blue at Close Knit. If you know Tosh DK, you probably already love it. If you don't, you might want to pop in and find out before it's gone.

Ice Storm Pending!

Well, it looks like we might be seeing another round of nasty weather today friends. If it gets bad, we might need to close up early. We will keep our sock class participants posted if we need to postpone our first class. Stay safe out there, friends. I'm looking forward to not worrying about this crazy weather!

Eye Candy

Free blanket pattern! This is a mash up of my 1966 Blanket and the Noromania blanket, worked up in Noro Kureyon Air. You'll need just six skeins and a US17 needle to make this awesome blanket.

Here's the free pattern. Enjoy, and stay warm!

Open Thursday!

Hey y'all! Sally will be opening the shop at 11 today, and she will stay open as long as it seems wise. If you are thinking of coming in after 4 or so, give a call to make sure we are still open. We will be making a decision about tonight's Beginning and Beyond class later on today, so stay tuned if you are signed up for that.

We Are Open!

Intrepid knitters and crocheters! We are open in the snow! The sidewalks have since been shoveled, and we are ready to set you up with new project for this snowy day. Open Knit Night is cancelled this week, and we might be closing up a little early today. Give us a call if you are planning to make the trek later this afternoon after 4 or so. Stay safe and warm!

Bumblebirch Forage

You all know we love the Bumblebirch Heartwood sock yarn, but the worsted weight Forage is amazing, too! I used the Dandelion colorway for my beloved Advanced Beanie. (It wasn't too advanced, I promise.) I added a few repeats to make it fit, since the pattern calls for a heavier yarn.
Forage is ideal for baby sweaters, too. Just one or two skeins would do the trick, depending on the size of the baby. It works up so nicely in textured stitches and cables...very squishy and satisfying. This yarn is soft and cozy and so beautiful!

Eye Candy

Pic borrowed from Ravelry pattern page.
I ran across this awesome bulky hat on Ravelry, and I knew you all would love it. The Reverse Snowball Fight would be amazing in Rasta, Magnum, Macro...any super bulky. I'm casting on today. Enjoy!

Pink Hats!

If you are participating in the Pussyhat Project, we have pink yarn for you! There are pussyhat patterns to knit, crochet, and even sew. There are free patterns written up for several gauges, so pop in and we can set you up with the right yarn for you. The march is coming up in a few short weeks, so let's get knitting. Go pink!

More Jawoll!

My toes are cold. I finished those awesome Arne and Carlos socks and gave them away to my lucky mother. Now I want some socks for me! Fortunately, the Lang Yarns Jawoll is restocked.
I'll need two skeins for a pair for myself, and I'm leaning toward the marled/tweed look. But maybe with bright, contrasting toes and heels and ribbing. Decisions, decisions.
Each skein comes with a little spool of reinforcing tread for the heels and toes. I have never worked with this sock yarn before, but it looks pretty sturdy. Do you all have any experience with how it knits and wears? I'll let you know what I think.

Eye Candy

Take a look at all the Knitted Wit Victory Sock! I see some Unicorn Farts, some Seriously?, and some PDX Carpet in there along with some pretty semi-solids. Get it while it's hot!
