Rialto Luxury Sock

Rialto Luxury Sock knits up with an almost-handspun look. Perfect for those of us who are not spinning our own fingering weight sock yarn. This lovely stuff makes beautiful and unusual shawls, scarves, socks, baby sweaters.
If I were you, I'd cast on for a cute little Baby Surprise Jacket, or maybe a Flax Light. One ball of this pretty stuff would make one sweet baby sweater. This yarn would also be really cool paired with a complementary solid, as this knitter did with her Dovetail Shawl. She liked it so much, she made another!

Eye Candy

Look at the Dream in Color Jilly! We have Jilly Lace and Jilly Fingering in the shop now, and it's so rich and beautiful. I used one skein of the fingering weight to make one of my most favorite baby sweaters ever, Gry's Hoodie from All You Knit is Love.
We have such an amazing array of shades right now. That rich ruby red is really something. And the golds and greens are great, too. And the pink. And the variegated purples...

Amirisu Fall 2016

The freshest Amirisu is available in the shop! I love the foresty green feel of this issue...perfect for fall. Let's have an oggle at these beautiful designs.
Pic borrwed from the Ravelry pattern page.

The shawl on the cover, Nemeton, uses a subtle sock yarn to show off some deep texture. Take a look at those herringbone-ish cables.
Kelly is a reversible cowl with the white colorwork only visible on one side.

I am sort of in love with Tolmie. The subtle stitch details up the front, the split hem, and the graceful neckline...this sweater is calling to me.

Handknit moto vest, anyone? Harley uses a big diagonal zipper to make a big statement.

Grace is a beauty, don't you think? Those flowing cables and open, swingy style are so pretty.

I think Newman is my favorite, though. The yoke is worked cuff to cuff, and then body stitches are picked up and worked down to the hem. All in brioche stitch, of course. So unusual.

We can always count on Amirisu for something out of the ordinary. Do any of these catch your eye?

Get It!

There is Shibui in the sale bin, y'all! They are discontinuing the gorgeous Merino Alpaca, and it's 40% off at the shop until it's gone. These colors are pure Shibui: vibrant, saturated, and so cool. The yarn is almost ropey, and textured stitches pop like crazy. Imagine a Guernsey Wrap in that orange. Or a Big Herringbone Cowl in the yellow. So cozy for fall. Come get it!

Your apples are chilly, so you really need to take Melissa's Crochet Workshops: Basic Skills class. She will teach you all the important basics of crochet, and each week will involve a new project. During the first week, you'll learn all the skills to begin this fabulous chunky cowl.
Week two involves these cute beanies in which ever size you'd like.
And week three is all about granny squares. Cozy afghan, coming right up!
Apple sweaters will be extra credit. Give us a call at the shop (503.288.4568) or pop in to sign up. Class starts Sunday afternoon!

Berroco Macro

The new fall yarns are coming into the shop, just in time for us to revel in these lovely days. While we have not reached the level of emergency cold weather knitting, everyone loves a big bulky yarn. So let's talk about Berroco Macro.
This big stuff is a wool/acrylic/alpaca blend, and it knits up on a US19. The pattern book has several fun designs that would be done in a heartbeat. I could see these being well received by kids starting school in some chilly climes.
Cute stuff, right? I also have a ridiculously simple blanket pattern to share with you all next week that would be perfect in Macro. Stay tuned!
